We bet you didn’t know
• The artwork for 'The Concept' was a creation of Floyd Miller (Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Vocals, and
Artist)
• The statue in front of Rockefeller Center in New York City was the inspiration for the artwork for the first album 'Slave.'
Astor Val-Hackett created the album cover
• A duck seen swimming in a pond near the residence of Astor was the inspiration Astor used to create the 'Hardness of the World' album cover
• The swan implies that despite all the negatives in a world, a positive does exist
• Astor was also responsible for the artwork shown on the third album 'Just A Touch Of Love'
• Slave's first notable concert was with Al Green and Average White Band in 1974 in Chicago. The group had a drum riser custom designed using "Sensurround"; the same technology used in the 1974 film 'Earthquake' to give the audience something they had never heard or felt
"Sensurround" worked by installing a custom sound system at the theaters using speakers made by Cerwin-Vega powered by BGW amplifiers. The speakers would pump sub-audible "infra bass" sound waves at 120 decibels (equivalent to a jet airplane at takeoff) towards the floor, giving the viewer the sensation of an earthquake)
